4.03 Beam tool

With the BIMmTool Beam tool, you can measure straight and slanted beams or design your roof truss with it.

Bottom edge distance to Home story.
If you have previously measured the top edge, this will give you the height of the beam.

Beam Geometry Methods

Straight beam

image.png

?  Have you measured the beam width?

?  Have you measured the beam height?

?  Have you selected the measurement area (left/right side, top or bottom)?

#Click 1
: Beam start point

#Click 2: Beam endpoint

Measure a beam from measuring point to measuring point. Then you can adjust the beam to your building.

Note:
Pay attention to the correct measuring/anchor point.

Measure several beams in a row. Measure twice on each side of the beam.

?  Have you measured the beam width?

?  Have you measured the beam height?

?  Have you selected the measurement area (left/right side, top or bottom)?

#Click 1
: Beam start point

#Click 2: First beam endpoint

#Click 3: Second beam start point

#Click 4: Second beam endpoint

> Click Finish to complete

Note:
Pay attention to the correct measuring/anchor point.

Slanted beam

Measure a slanted beam with two measurements:

?  Have you measured the beam width?

?  Have you measured the beam height?

?  Have you selected the measurement area (left/right side, top or bottom)?

: Beam start point

#Click 2: Beam endpoint

Stretch beam

image.png

With the BIMm stretch beam command, you can align your beams to two lines.

Note:
The adjustment refers to the click order. Always click beams at the bottom, then at the top.

>  Draw a line for the bottom adjustment.

>  Draw a line for the top adjustment.

>  Select the corresponding lines and beams.

>  Click the Stretch Beam command.

Note:
Archicad will adjust the beams according to your reference line!

Slanted beam with four points

image.png

Measure a slanted beam with four measurements:

?  Have you measured the beam width?

?  Have you measured the beam height?

#Click 1: Beam bottom start point.

#Click 2: Beam side start point.

#Click 3: Beam endpoint on the bottom side.

#Click 4: Beam side endpoint.

Possible measurement/anchor points

You can measure the beam depending on the measuring/anchor point selection.
